SUN SAFETY

Sunburn increases your risk of skin cancer. Sunburn doesn’t just happen on holiday. You can burn in the UK

There’s no safe or healthy way to get a tan. A tan does not protect your skin from the sun’s harmful effects. ( in short A tan is Sunburn )

Aim to strike a balance between protecting yourself from the sun and getting enough vitamin D from sunlight.

SLEEVES ?

Paul’s Reasons for asking the Sleeves?

Short or Long Sleeves whilst playing sport?

Tennis Players, Golfers, Cricketers spend a long time in the Sunshine – weather allowing – i mention sports people here but to be honest it applies to all of us.

all those years of wearing short sleeved shirt – when the weather allowed of course – should I have worn a long sleeve shirt – but as a bowler preferred short sleeves, perhaps I should of used those skin tight fitting underlayer with long sleeves and white?

A SMALL RECTANGLE

Sun Awareness

in the UK 11am to 3pm try getting intoa  habbit of headign indoors between 11am and 3pm

Sun Safety Tips

Spend time in the shade when the sun is strongest. In the UK, this is between 11am and 3pm from March to October.

What Factor suncscreen (SPF) should you use

Do not rely on sunscreen alone to protect yourself from the sun. Wear suitable clothing and spend time in the shade when the sun’s at its hottest.

What are the SPF and star rating?

The sun protection factor, or SPF, is a measure of the amount of ultraviolet B radiation (UVB) protection.

Paul’s Diagnosis

the number of people diagnosed with the condition has risen steeply since the 1970s.

About us

There are  two main categories of SKin Cancer

There are two main categories of skin cancer – melanoma and non-melanoma

The melanoma stages can be described as:

  • Stage 0 – the melanoma is on the surface of the skin (my diagnosis)
  • Stage 1A – the melanoma is less than 1mm thick
  • Stage 1B – the melanoma is 1-2mm thick, or less than 1mm thick and the surface of the skin is broken (ulcerated) or its cells are dividing faster than usual
  • Stage 2A – the melanoma is 2-4mm thick, or it’s 1-2mm thick and ulcerated
  • Stage 2B – the melanoma is thicker than 4mm, or it’s 2-4mm thick and ulcerated
  • Stage 2C – the melanoma is thicker than 4mm and ulcerated
  • Stage 3A – the melanoma has spread into one to three nearby lymph nodes, but they’re not enlarged; the melanoma isn’t ulcerated and hasn’t spread further
  • Stage 3B – the melanoma is ulcerated and has spread into one to three nearby lymph nodes but they’re not enlarged, or the melanoma isn’t ulcerated and has spread into one to three nearby lymph nodes and they are enlarged, or the melanoma has spread to small areas of skin or lymphatic channels, but not to nearby lymph nodes
  • Stage 3C – the melanoma is ulcerated and has spread into one to three nearby lymph nodes and they’re enlarged, or it’s spread into four or more lymph nodes nearby
  • Stage 4 – the melanoma cells have spread to other parts of the body, such as the lungs, brain or other areas of the skin

The above stages from NHS – https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/melanoma-skin-cancer/
